2019 Ford Edge
As a midsize SUV, the 2019 Ford Edge features a refreshed interior and exterior styling for the 2019 model year. Seating five people comfortably, the two-row SUV is an ideal option for families looking for an affordable and spacious option. Keep reading to learn what to expect with this powerful vehicle.
Trim Levels
There are four trim levels available with the 2019 Ford Edge: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST. The SE trim comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and all-season tires, while the SEL trim comes with several packages including a cold-weather and convenience package. The Titanium trim highlights technology features, while the top-of-the-line ST trim replaces the Edge Sport trim and is the vehicle's performance-oriented model.
Engine
To power the 2019 Edge, you have two engine options. Standard in all trims except for the ST is the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower. The ST trim comes with a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 engine, which produces 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Either option comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the former six-speed option. All-wheel drive is available as an upgrade in all trims except the ST where it is standard.
Performance
Pertaining to performance, the 2019 Edge attains one of the best gas mileage in its class. If you have the base engine paired with front-wheel drive, expect to get an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Vehicles with all-wheel drive lose an estimated one mpg. The ST trim gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
Interior
The 2019 Edge comes standard with cloth upholstery. Its comfortable and sturdy cabin also features quality insulation, keeping out the road and wind noise. The interior is spacious enough that even those trims that feature a moonroof have enough room for adults sitting in the second row.
The SE trim comes with proximity keyless entry and SYNC connectivity system with six-speaker stereo. The SEL trim adds dual-zone automatic climate control and power-adjustable front seats. The Titanium trim includes a 12-speaker sound system and additional power adjustments to the front seats. When it comes to cargo space, the midsize SUV has 39.2 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 73.4 cubic feet of space if you fold down the seats. Compared to other two-row SUVs in its class, the Edge has above-average cargo space.
Safety Features
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the 2019 Edge with four out of five stars in the rollover test. In addition, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the SUV the highest score in all six of its conducted crash tests.
To secure children, the vehicle has two complete sets of LATCH connectors located on the rear outboard seats, while there's also an upper tether anchor found on the rear middle seat. The vehicle comes standard with Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of safety features, which include a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, automatic high beams, and a pre-collision warning and braking system. Available upgrades include adaptive cruise control, parallel park assist, and adaptive headlights.
