2019 Ford Transit Connect
The 2019 Ford Transit Connect passenger van is a practical and versatile minivan. The long wheelbase model will seat up to seven people, while the short wheelbase version seats five in style and comfort. You can choose from three trim levels and two engines enabling you to configure your Transit Connect to suit your family and lifestyle.
Trim Levels
The Connect is offered in XL, XLT, and Titanium trims, each with its own stylish features. The XL has a black grille, automatic headlamps, daytime running lights (DRL), 16-inch steel wheels, black bodyside moldings, sliding side doors, and a rear liftgate or the optional swing-out cargo doors.
XLT models add a chrome grille surround, configurable DRL, fog lights, body-color bumpers, bodyside moldings and door handles, heated power door mirrors, and privacy glass. Titanium trim features chrome accents, high-intensity discharge headlamps, LED fog lights, and body-color power folding mirrors.
Engine
The standard engine is a 162 horsepower 2.0-Liter four-cylinder unit that delivers 144 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard in XLT and Titanium short wheelbase models, and optional on other models, is a newly available 1.5-Liter turbo diesel engine.
Performance
With the gas engine, you'll get up to 24 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg for highway driving. Both engines feature start/stop technology which improves fuel efficiency when you're driving in the city by automatically stopping the engine when the car is stationary. When properly equipped, the Transit Connect has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.
Interior
Two-row short wheelbase models and three-row long wheelbase models offer multiple seating configurations enabling you to maximize your cargo and passenger capacity. The XL trim offers a six-way manual driver's seat, second-row fold-flat bucket seats, and a sliding fold-flat third row. It also features dual-zone climate control, a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, and three 12-volt power outlets. The infotainment system has a 4.2-inch display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a four-speaker audio system.
The XLT adds cloth upholstery with a power adjustable driver's seat, a driver information display, chrome-accented steering wheel, a 6.5-inch touch screen, smartphone integration, an additional USB port, a wireless charging pad, and nine-speaker audio with satellite radio. Top-of-the-range Titanium trim offers leather-trimmed upholstery with heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 110-volt power point, and a navigation system.
Safety Features
As standard, the Connect features Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology which includes pre-collision alert with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, traction control with roll stability control, side wind stabilization, curve control, trailer sway control, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.
You also have torque vectoring control for safer cornering, ABS with emergency brake assist and hill start assist, a tire pressure monitoring system, and the MyKey inexperienced driver safety system. In addition, the XLT trim has rain-sensing wipers, wiper-activated headlamps, and an automatic-dimming rearview mirror. Available features include adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, enhanced active park assist, and adaptive cornering fog lights.
